Since 2015, it has invested more than $500 million in energy infrastructure. The group has grown by +15% annually since 2020 driven by mining demand and the energy transition.

Customer request
Genser Energy, faced with a rapid growth and dispersed financial data, was looking to modernise its analytical processes to better manage its investments in energy infrastructure.
Their Finance team, dependent on Excel and manual reports, was wasting precious time consolidating data from SAP, spreadsheets and static dashboards — a barrier to responsiveness in a sector as dynamic as energy.
Their challenge? Automate the production of reports, visualize financial performance by project in real time (thermal power plants, solar power plants, mining contracts), and quickly identify budget differences to adjust their strategies.
Our mission was clear: train their team in 3 days in Power BI, by targeting immediate and applicable skills — from data import and modeling to the creation of interactive dashboards adapted to their jobs. We designed a tailor-made program, integrating their real data (operating costs, profitability per site, cash flow) to ensure practical immersion from day one.
The objective? Allow them to become autonomous in creating financial dashboards, without depending on IT teams or external experts.
Result
In just 3 days, the team acquired the skills to transform its data into decision-making levers.
They designed dynamic financial dashboards, automatically integrating their data sources (SAP, Excel) and highlighting the critical indicators: monitoring of margins by central, analysis of budgetary differences, or even visualization of cash flows. Manual reports have become obsolete: time for real-time analyses, updated at the click of a button.
The impact was immediate: No more consolidation errors and no more hours lost formatting data. The team was able to identify financial anomalies (such as cost overruns) in the early days, and share clear insights with management. The training has also broken silos: financial data, once reserved for a few experts, is now accessible and usable by all decision-makers.
Observed gains
Three months after the training, the benefits are measured at three levels:
- Effectiveness : 20% of time saved on reporting, reallocated to strategic analysis.
 - Precision : Significant reduction in errors thanks to centralized and reliable data.
 - Responsiveness : Accelerated financial decisions, with arbitrations now taken in 48 hours instead of 2 weeks.
 
Beyond operational gains, Power BI has become a key tool for collaboration : the Finance and Operations teams now work with the same indicators, aligning their actions with profitability goals.
Based on these results, Genser Energy has extended the use of Power BI to other services, confirming that data is now at the heart of their performance.
